Plant One, an established pilot plant company specializing in sustainable production processes, is the new owner of the former Bioprocess Pilot Facility (BPF) at Biotech Campus Delft. Plant One will further develop the current bioprocess facility into a full-service pilot plant for companies active in bio-based and/or biotechnology processes, from SMEs to multinationals. The agreement was signed at the Biotech Campus Delft on April 10, 2024.

Scale-up facilities play an important role in the bio-based economy to further develop and commercialize biotechnological innovations. There is a general lack of high-end bioprocessing pilot facilities, which hinders the market introduction of promising new technologies.

Plant One Delft, as the former BPF is now called, is a fully equipped 5,000 m2 facility in the heart of the Biotech Campus Delft. The facility will be available to companies and knowledge institutions with biotechnology as the core enabler for sustainable innovations in nutrition, biochemistry and renewable energy, among others. Plant One will offer its customers a unique full-service concept for scaling up production of new products or processes that have just been tested at lab scale. A well-equipped, full-service pilot facility is crucial to helping companies through the often challenging scale-up phase in preparation for commercial-scale production.
